Enriching Urban Biodiversity with Native Trees

As part of our Urban Greening initiatives at Philippine Parks & Biodiversity, we invite you to join us for our educational webinar, “Enriching urban biodiversity with native trees”
We will be discussing the importance of native trees and biodiversity, types of native trees for planting in urban settings, and local nurseries amongst others.
This is only the beginning of our initiative to see more native trees in urban spaces and we are delighted to be joined by the following speakers:
Speaker 1: PAT MALABRIGO
Pat Malabrigo is the Associate Professor and Chair, Dept. of Forest Biological Sciences and the Curator for Trees of Museum of Natural History in University of the Philippines Los Banos. He is also a consultant for Energy Development Corporation’s BINHI program.
Speaker 2: LEE-ANN CANALS SILAYAN
Lee-ann Canals Silayan is the Site Lead for our Ipo Watershed (Mt. Balagbag) reforestation project, the Environment Committee Head of UP Mountaineers and the founder of Kaleekasan Nursery.

As part of our educational programs for conservation, a minimal fee of Php200 for this learning event will be requested to confirm your slot. This slot includes (2) native tree seedlings that will be planted in our reforestation site in Ipo Watershed and Mt. Apo Natural Park together with Energy Development Corporation and other funds gathered will be used for other fees needed for reforestation and enrichment planting.

The Urban Greening initiative aims to empower LGUs and institutions to design spaces and encourage initiatives for native tree planting in urban spaces and with environmental education in mind. Email phparksandbiodiversity@gmail.com to learn more.
